Blue Seal Inc
Blue Seal is an international industrial coatings manufacturer, distributor, and applicator. Although Blue Seal is happy with their logo design, they are in need of stationary, marketing materials, and a fresh website that reflects their status as industry leaders.
Problem:
Without a cohesive brand identity the company lacked the degree of professionalism found in their competitors.
Solution:
To create a cohesive brand identity that includes stationary, marketing brochures, and a responsive website.
Color Palette
​Blue Seal Inc originated from a resin formulation that contained a bright blue pigment. This shade quickly became synonymous with the Blue Seal brand. To build out a complete color palette, a dark navy and light blue were added. Finally, a complimentary shade of gold was added as an accent color.
Typography
Blue Seal Inc had a logo design long before investing in a complete brand identity. Because of this it was important to select fonts that complimented the current logo font. The Franklin Gothic fonts mirrored the logo’s font face, and the simple Verdana font offered a slight variation for the body’s font face.
Site Map
Blue Seal Inc wanted a website that would build brand recognition, generate leads, and provide information pertinent to the distributors and applicators of their products. A website consisting of four pages was constructed, with each page meeting a specific need. The home page and product applications page contained information to build brand recognition, the product data page contained necessary information for distributors and applicators, and the contact page facilitated lead generations.
DESIGN STRATEGY
STATIONERY
Blue Seal Inc needed letter head, envelopes, and business cards. The designs needed to be simple, but make use of their iconic circular logo. For the letter head, a wave like design was created in the header, with the logo fitting into the upper cut. The company’s information was then added to the footer. For the business card a linear accent was placed at the base, maximizing the usable space. The envelope design mirrored the business card with a similar linear accent across the bottom.
BROCHURES
Blue Seal Inc’s coatings are used in a wide range of applications that span a variety of industries. The sales department requested brochures be created specific to each industry. Although much of the information is applicable to all industries, the imagery and tone needed to be specific to each target audience, while maintaining a consistent brand identity.

WIREFRAMES
​Wireframes are an important step in the website design process. Early in the website’s design process, wireframes were created of the desktop and mobile versions for Blue Seal Inc. These wireframes highlighted the site’s structure and functionality, thus ensuring that the client’s design needs were being met.
MOCKUPS
While the purpose of wireframing is to focus on the site’s functionality, mock-ups focus on the visual components. High fidelity mock-ups of the Blue Seal Inc website were created to display how the site will appear visually on both desktops and mobile devices.
